I’m Dan - founder of Compass & Cross, though most days I’m just trying to be a great father.
I spent years in the forces before any of this, which teaches you fairly quickly that most of what people chase doesn’t matter much, and the things that do are usually simple: who you show up for, what you stand for, and whether your word actually means anything once nobody’s checking.
That’s really where this started. Not a business plan - a Sunday on a hillside with my two girls, watching them notice things I’d long since stopped noticing myself.
I wanted a reason to keep doing that.
So I started Compass & Cross: partly a business, mostly an excuse to keep walking, keep teaching, and keep being the kind of father I actually want them to remember.
Faith runs through it, but I’m not interested in putting a verse on a hat and calling that conviction. What you’ll get from us is more ordinary than that: real trails, honest product, and a faith that shows up in how we do things more than in what we say about them. If a batch doesn’t meet our own standard, it doesn’t go out. Simple as that.

Family - My daughters aren’t the audience for this brand. They’re the reason it exists.
Adventure - Not extreme, just outside, on purpose, often because the version of me that does something hard on a trail is usually the version of me that shows up better at home too.
